Breaking the pattern starts when we stop
settling for "this is how it's always been".
Women Techmakers' International Women's Day (IWD) campaign brings together thousands of technologists to celebrate, connect, and learn. Globally, it's a moment to recognize the incredible contributions of women around the world, and is also a call to action for accelerating gender equity.
The theme for IWD 2026 is Break the Pattern. This theme is intended to tie a thread through the many local events that make up the global movement that is International Women's Day.
Breaking the pattern means to stop accepting things just because they've always been that way. This is the moment to disrupt old biases, step into spaces where we weren't expected, and rewrite the rules of who gets to shape technology's future.
